ABOUT KELSEY

Kelsey Ridgeway, BSN, RN, CEN, LNC

I have been in the healthcare field since 2012, starting as a Patient Care Technician on a transplant/nephrology/urology unit at the Medical University of South Carolina. Initially unsure of a career in healthcare, the patients and nurses I encountered at MUSC helped solidify my choice to pursue nursing. When I moved to the upstate in 2013, I became a Nursing Specialty Technician in the Emergency Trauma Center at Greenville Memorial Hospital, finding my true niche within the healthcare community. While working alongside the amazing physicians and nurses in the ETC, my passion for healthcare and people continued to grow. I earned my BSN from USC Upstate in 2016, graduating at the top of my class with academic honors. Since then, I have attained nine years of experience in the realm of emergency nursing and obtained my board certification as an emergency nurse in 2020. My drive, knowledge, and dedication allowed me the opportunity to become one of the charge nurses at Greenville Memorial Hospital’s level one trauma center, comprehensive stroke center, and primary PCI center after just three years of nursing experience. I have passed on knowledge and experience to countless orientees and new graduate nurses. I am known by my colleagues for my ability to focus and remain calm under high pressure situations, my vast nursing knowledge, assessment abilities, and critical thinking skills. I am now employed at Hillcrest Hospital Emergency Department, where I continue to use the skills I obtained at the Emergency Trauma Center to help the community hospital patient population through the role of bedside nurse and charge nurse.

My nursing knowledge and experience, particularly with electronic medical records and extensive knowledge of a wide range of medical problems, makes me an invaluable resource for the attorney needing to interpret and utilize medical records to support their case. As such, I have transitioned my clinical and academic skills to the field of legal nurse consulting.

Becoming a Legal Nurse Consultant has allowed me to focus more fully on what is truly important to me: my family. I have a loving and supportive husband of eleven years and two beautiful and engaging little girls. While I’m not working diligently for my patients or attorney clients, my little ladies keep me busy with outdoor adventures, especially at Conestee Nature Preserve; learning new skills with arts and crafts activities; exploring the world through travel and reading; inventing endless silly and educational games; and harnessing our inner peace with yoga.
